Medieval Literature
There are many authors and poets that wrote medieval literature. Some are Caedmon, Venerable Bede, Geoffrey Chaucer, Margery Kempe, John Gower, Francesco Petrarch, Dante, Christine de Pizan, William Longland, Boccaccio, and Raphael Holinshed. Caedmon was the first English poet of whom we have any knowledge of. Margery Kempe is the author of the very first autobiography in English. Dante is famous as a poet and politician. Then Christine de Pizan was famous for being an author and feminist.
There are also famous Theologians and religious authors. Some authors are John Wycliffe, William of Ockham, Martin Luther, Thomas Aquinas, and Peter Abelard. John Wycliffe was the first person to translate the bible into English. William of Ockham was a famous philosopher and author. Martin Luther was known for the 95 Thesis. Many of these authors wrote about religion. During the Dark Ages most literature was about religious nature.
